ComboCurve: Merging Scenarios

Merging Scenarios

Merging scenarios is a useful feature for merging two smaller scenarios together.

Selecting Scenarios to be Merged:

In the Scenarios section, begin by selecting the two scenarios you would like to merge, then click the Merge button.

Note: Merging scenarios does not delete the parent scenarios; both will remain available.

Ranking Scenarios:

Once you have selected the two scenarios and started the merge process, the first step is to choose scenario prioritization. If both scenarios contain overlapping wells, the parameters from the priority scenario will be used. Wells are determined to be overlapping if their Chosen IDs are matching.

You can change the priority by dragging one scenario above the other, the top scenario will take precedence for overlapping wells' merged qualifiers. In the left-hand panel, you will also provide a name for the new combined scenario and can view a summary showing the number of overlapping wells and the final well count (currently supporting up to 25,000 total wells).

Merging Qualifiers:

ComboCurve also allows you to merge qualifiers individually. For example, you may want to use the CAPEX qualifier from Project #2 and the mid/low price model from Project #1 in the new merged scenario. This can be done by either dragging the desired qualifier into the right-hand section or by clicking the arrow icon next to the qualifier.

To remove a qualifier from the combined scenario, simply click the Trashcan icon. Similar to scenario priority, you can also rank qualifiers for overlapping wells by dragging them to the top of the list, which determines which qualifier takes precedence.

At the top of the page, the Reset button removes all qualifiers from the combined scenario if you need to start over. The Bring All and Merge Duplicates button pulls in all qualifiers from both Project #1 and Project #2. Qualifiers are identified as duplicates if their names match - 'merging' the two will combine the qualifiers into one qualifier and refer to the scenario prioritization for assumption application.

Merging and Checking Merge Scenario:

After ranking and assigning the qualifiers to be merged, click the Merge button and wait for the process to complete. Once finished, the merged scenario will appear alongside the two parent scenarios.

Note: It is recommended to review the merged scenario to confirm that all qualifiers merged correctly and that overlapping wells were assigned as expected based on the selected rankings.
