Importing Directional Surveys
Navigate to the import tab and create a new import:
Select the import type, name the import, and choose whether the import is at the company level or the project level. For more information on data imports check out this document:
ComboCurve: Data Import How-To & FAQs . Continuing to import directional survey data drag and drop directional survey files into the designated destination.
Note: Also need to import the header; production data is not required when importing directional surveys. There is also a download template option, this template allows user to add their data to this template and import it.
Finally click upload, now onto the header mapping page. Just like production data mapping headers, mapping our directional survey file headers to our ComboCurve headers is crucial. Again the minimum required headers for a import to be successful are colored in purple. Drag and drop the headers on the left (Uploaded File Headers) to the right (ComboCurve headers). The screenshot below shows an example of a fully mapped out Directional Survey header.
3 different coordinate system standards exist for how to interpret geography data (WGS84, NAD27, and NAD83). It is important to select which one the user's company uses to get accurate well locations on ComboCurve's mapping feature.
To complete the import of the directional data click Next and access the final import page. Here check to make sure the wells being import show up, and if they are existing wells are showing up as existing. The same issues commonly seen when importing production data occur here so if an issue arises again, reference the document mentioned above. After verifying everything looks good click import and wait until the import is complete.
Viewing Directional Surveys
To view and confirm the direction survey data was imported correctly. Navigate to Project Wells inside of the project the well was imported to and filter to the wells. Next, in the right-hand table, tab to Map View. Next, find highlighted wells on the map and confirm the directional survey exists and is imported by the line shooting off the wells' location; this is the added directional information.
If directional survey information is not appearing it is possible it is turned off in the map view. To turn it on, simply click the layers option and enable the directional surveys to be shown.
