ComboCurve: Applying and Reapplying Type Curves

Applying a Type Curve

In this article we will look at the process of Applying and Reapplying Type Curves.

ComboCurve allows users to apply their created type curves on given wells. If the user is wanting to create wells for this application of their Type Curve, they can navigate to the "Project Wells" page and click on "Create Wells".

Clicking on the "Create Wells" button will bring you to some options for your created wells such as well name, number of wells, and their associated headers.

Once the wells are in the forecast and the Type curve has been created, the user can navigate to the "Forecast Options" tab from the forecast main page and click on "Apply Type Curve".

From this menu there are some options to note while applying this Type Curve.
  1. First you must select which phase or all of them to apply this to. If you had toggled on normalization while generating your Type Curve you will want to have that toggled on here as well. (If you are wanting to use it).
  2. Next comes the risk factor application for each phase
  3. Which series you are applying for this TC
  4. Your FPD choice:
    1.       "First Prod Date" will be the FPD in the well header
    2.        "First Prod Date Daily or Monthly" would be the FPD for the first date you have imported for historic production.
    3.       "Scheduling" Can be pulled from a created schedule
    4.       "Fixed Date" is a date of your cholce
  5. Lastly you will select whether to use a lookup (if you are applying more than one TC at once), or you can select the individual type curve from the dropdown at the bottom. If you have multiple wells using the same TC, selecting the one TC will apply it to all wells.

You can click the green "Apply" button at the top left and the application of this TC will be completed!

Only read the next part if wanting to apply TC with a lookup table:
To assign TC to wells based on their headers you can create a lookup table from the lookup table module. Once that has been generated you can navigate to the same "Forecast Options" drop-down and select "Apply Type Curve" again. Instead of selecting your individual TC this time, there is a toggle for "Use Lookup" and once this is toggled on you can select your lookup from the drop-down.

Reapplying Type Curves

If you want to make changes to the same TC you have applied to your wells, you can do so in the Type Curve module. Once this is completed and you want the changes easily reflected on your wells, you can navigate to the "Forecast Options" menu and click on "Re-apply Type Curve"

Once you click this it will confirm you want to re-apply and then your wells should be updated.
